HTCOOR

HTCOOR is a package for solving the long-term hydrothermal coordination problem of electricity generation. The package has been developed by Jordi Castro and José A.González in the scope of the SLOEGAT European Esprit Project 22652. HTCOOR is described in this paper. The package implements an improved version of a model introduced by Narcís Nabona, Jordi Castro and José A. González in this paper. A more comprehensive description of the current model and the optimization problem implemented in HTCOOR can be found in this research report. Details about the structure of the package, together with some computational results, can be found in this technical report.

To install the package, get this file, gunzip and untar it on the directory where HTCOOR wants to be installed, and read the README file of the newly created htcoor_distribution directory. The current distribution was developed on a Sun Solaris workstation. In principle, only minor changes should be performed to port the package to other systems.

The distribution includes two versions of the code: one for optimizing the model with Minos5.5, the other with Snopt5.3. These solvers are not included with the distribution, and you will need to get a separate license for them to run HTCOOR.

The package is distributed together with a set of slightly modified real-world instances of hydrothermal coordination problems, which give rise to large nonlinear nonconvex optimization problems. The package can thus be also useful for testing alternative solvers (e.g., interior-point-based codes).

REMEMBER that you can only use the package for academic purposes. For other types of usage, please contact the authors sending a message to narcis.nabonaupc.edu, jordi.castroupc.edu or jose.a.gonzalezupc.edu.
